We have some important news to announce.
There will be changes to SmartCare Optimum & SmartCare Optimum Plus (“SCO”) from 1st of July 2021.
News #1 : Premiums will increase on 1st July 2021.
Hospitalisation costs in Malaysia have been increasing at double-digit rates the last few years. As a result, our medical insurer AXA will be revising their premiums so that they can continue to provide you quality medical coverage in the long run.
News #2: Premium reduction of 15% if you opt for ‘Pay and Claim’ Plan
We know most people prefer to have a cashless medical card, But if you are willing to pay first and claim from AXA later, you can enjoy a reduction of 15% on your premium. This pay and claim discount is available from 1st July onwards.
News #3: More benefits with new premiums
• Coverage for psychiatric treatment
• Coverage for surgical implant of pacemaker and defibrillator
• Coverage for intraocular lens for relevant eye operations
• Health rewards wellness programme with the new Fit+ app
• Waiver of 20% co-payment if you upgrade your room and board upon admission
What should you do?
If you do not have a medical plan yet:
Do not delay if you do not have a medical plan yet. For your peace of mind, buy one now (and certainly before 1st July 2021) and you will enjoy the existing premium rates for one more year with the benefit of a cashless medical card.
If you are an existing AXA SCO plan holder:
You do not need to do anything. You have already paid your premium. You may decide to continue with the enhanced benefits when your policy is up for renewal.
If you have a current medical plan by another insurance company:
One month before renewal, compare your existing plan's benefits and renewal premium with AXA’s competitive SCO plans. And bear in mind, from 1st July onwards, you can enjoy a reduction of 15% off premiums if you choose the "pay and claim" option.
